Furosen photograph It is said that this onsen was open since the beginning of the Meiji period.
ot only the local citizens residing around Beppu Station and the central metropolitan area, but tourists also have enjoyed bathing here.
In conjunction with the increase of tourists during the Meiji and Taisho periods, it was reconstructed in 1957 as a three story reinforced concrete building with a large size bath, family room, and assembly hall.
The facility was re-opened in August of 2014 with a fashionable design suited for this historic hot spring.
An elevator for the visually handicapped and a multi-purpose toilet were built with the intent that everybody could use the facility with ease.It also has a slope leading to the entrance as part of the barrier free design of the building. It has the largest size bath tub of all the municipal hot springs and you can choose to either go into the “hot” or “warm” water tub.
Also there is a meeting room with a hard surface floor on the second floor which can be used for various events.
