About 「GENSEN」「HIKIYU」「KAKENAGASHI」「JYUNKAN」

Japan holds several types of onsens which vary in quality and benefit. Recently onsen information has been provided on TV and in magazines, and people have started to focus not only on its quality and benefit but also where and how the water comes from. So then, here we introduce the following signs.

GENSEN

Onsen facility, which actually holds a fountainhead in the site.

HIKIYU

Onsen facility, which is supplied with water through a pipe from a fountainhead somewhere out of the site.

KAKENAGASHI

Onsen facility, which is supplied with water directly from a fountainhead without any control.

JYUNKAN

Onsen facility, which is supplied with water by circulatory system (reuse of discharged water after filtering).

EXAMPLES

GENSEN KAKENAGASHI

Onsen facility, which is supplied with water directly from a fountainhead in the site without any control.

HIKIYU KAKENAGASHI

Onsen facility, which is supplied with water through a pipe from a fountainhead somewhere out of the site without any control.

HIKIYU JYUNKAN

Onsen facility, which is supplied with water through a pipe from a fountainhead somewhere out of the site and reuses discharged water after filtering by circulatory system.
