	It is said that in 895 the Emperor Daigo, in 1044 the Emperor Goreisen visited here to soak in the therapeutic waters. Its name Shibaseki was derived from the fossil firewood (Shiba) found there in the Edo period. It was designated as a National Health Hot Spring Resort for its therapeutic waters and built in wonderful natural surroundings with a forest promenade which would lead you to Myoban Hot Spring.
