reconstructed in 1977
Kannawa is the very hot spring area of symbolic view above all Beppu Hatto with tremendous steam rising. It used to be called “Ukiyu, Ikariyu, Kinnoyu or Usagigarinoyu”.
Netsunoyu (netsu means fever) was named after the effect to remove a fever. It used to be used as a drinking fountain which still remains its trace on the left as well as a kitchen and a laundry (called Shimonetsunoyu then) on the right side of the building.
The present bath constructed in 1977 is open to the public for free and still now frequented by visitors.
