To secure exits for safe evacuation, do not put objects in passageways or entrances.
	Do not put furniture or any other objects that can easily fall down along passageways to the entrance. Objects put around the entrance may fall down and block your exit.
Secure safe space to evacuate inside the house.
	Place furnitures in one room which you use infrequently. If not, arrange the furniture layout to secure safety space.
Do not put furniture in a bedroom or a room for children/the aged.
	You can be attacked by an earthquake while sleeping. It is not easy for children and elderly persons to evacuate in case of emergency.
Prevent furniture from failing down.
	Gaps between furniture and a wall/pillar may cause furniture to fall down. Put a small board under the furniture to lean it against the wall. Use metal fittings or fixtures to prevent furniture from falling down.

How to prevent furniture from falling down

Use L-shaped metal fittings or support bars. Tightly connect the joints of stacked furniture with metal fittings.	Use L-shaped metal fittings to fix cupboards to the wall. Lay a non-slippery sheet or cloth on each shelf. Place heavy tableware on the lower shelves and light ones on the upper shelves. Attach fasteners on the door.
Use chains and metal fittings to attach lights to the ceiling. As for fluorescent lights, attach heat-resistant tape to both ends of light tubes.	Wrap wires along the space between the doors of refrigerator. Fix them to a wall with metal fittings.
Put TVs on a lower place. (Avoid putting them on furniture.) Do not put a water tank or a goldfish bowl on the TV.	Wind a rope on a piano and fix it to a wall with metal fittings. Attach creepers to the legs of the piano.
